The city of Sequim has new LED light bulbs in all traffic lights thanks to a partnership with the Clallam County Public Utility District. Mattias Järvegren, PUD utility services advisor II (left), worked with Paul Haines, public works director for the city to fund the project, saving about 59,000 kilowatts an hour and an estimated $3,600 per year. Järvegren gives Haines an incentive check worth $5,200.56 for the city from the PUD with the assistance of the Bonneville Power Administration’s Energy Conservation Agreement. “Energy efficiency will become more and more important over the next couple of years,” Järvegren said. “Starting in 2012 the PUD has lofty mandated energy-saving goals, so we will be looking for more of these opportunities as we approach that date.” Photo courtesy of Clallam County PUD
