Veteran Master Gardener Bob Cain outlines common- sense ways to save money growing vegetables at noon Thursday, Feb. 23, in the county commissioners meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

In his free presentation, “A Scotsman’s Guide to Cheaper Vegetable Gardening,” Cain discusses soil preparation and amendments, seeds, harvesting and storage tips. He also shares ideas for planting densities, patio gardens and constructing low-cost structures and sustainable irrigation.

Cain is current president of the Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County and manager of the Woodcock Demonstration Garden. He is a frequent contributor to gardening columns in local newspapers and the gardening show on KSQM 91.5. He has provided many presentations through the Class Act at Woodcock Garden, Green Thumb Gardening Tips Brown Bags, the Soroptimist Gala Garden Show in Sequim and other venues.

Green Thumb Garden Tips brown-bag presentations are sponsored by the WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners in Port Angeles at noon on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month.
