The Rev. Bill Green delivered his first sermon Sunday, July 10, as pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave.

Green and his wife, Jenny, come here after he served seven years as pastor of Garden Street United Methodist Church in Bellingham. He succeeds the Rev. Bill Gordon, who retired.

A 1981 graduate of Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colo., Green first was appointed to serve the United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Next came assignments to two churches in Washington, at Montesano and Connell.

He then was appointed to the United Methodist Church in Moscow, Idaho, where a complete remodeling of the historical church building was accomplished during his nine years there. That was followed by his assignment to Bellingham.

Because Moscow and Bellingham are university towns, he also was involved in campus ministry the past 16 years.

The Greens met while both were students at Central Washington University and have been married nearly 34 years. They have three adult children and one grandchild.
