Not sure what to give Aunt Millie for Christmas? Artists at The Blue Whole Gallery are stocking small items perfect for gifts.
Items include small paintings, ceramics, glass jewelry, sculptures, bundled note cards and handmade shawls and purses.
More than half of the 33 artists who are part of the co-op gallery at 129 W. Washington St., Sequim, are displaying art especially for gift giving. Many have items that are different from those usually on display there.
For instance, Carol Eichler, whose mixed-media pictures hang on the walls, is offering shawls and purses she has made from fabric and fringe. She finds many of the fastenings for the purses at garage sales and thrift shops.
The Gift Gallery opens Nov. 27 and will remain open until Dec. 28 during the gallery's usual business hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-
3 p.m. Sunday. The gallery will extend hours to 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, and every Friday through December.
On Fridays in December, the Downtown Merchants Association members also will be open every Friday until 7 p.m. For the First Friday Art Walk, The Blue Whole is offering a watercolor, "Poinsettias" by Rick Rathbun, for a drawing at 8 p.m. Dec. 4.
The Downtown Merchants Association is donating a gift basket with merchandise and gift certificates valued at $1,300 from downtown merchants for a drawing. Tickets are available at any downtown store from Nov. 27-Dec. 6. The drawing will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 9.
No purchase is necessary to participate in either drawing and winners need not be present.
You can wrap up that challenge of choosing a gift for Aunt Millie at The Blue Whole Gift Gallery or another downtown merchant in Sequim.
