Every spring this poem rings out on school playgrounds.

In Sequim there's no reason to wonder. Come to BirdFest April 9-11, and people will help you find more birds than you can imagine.

Spring is a great time to find birds on the peninsula. Migration is going forward and many birds find places here to rest on their way north. Other birds are arriving and setting up their nesting territories.

BirdFest offers events ranging from a two-day cruise to the San Juan Islands to a nighttime owl prowl. In all, 22 trips with experts let participants view waterfowl, land birds and even the totem poles of the S'Klallam Tribe.

Proceeds

support center

Proceeds support the Dungeness River Audubon Center in Railroad Bridge Park and its community outreach programs in local schools and during the summer. The center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim, is open 10 a.m. -4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

BirdFest is co-sponsored by the center, the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe and the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society. For more information, visit the center or see www.olympicbirdfest.org.
