Sequim Open Air Market

The market is teaming with fresh new vendors and spring greens!

This week Joe Bridge is playing live music from 11 a.m.-

2 p.m. Joe is a master at playing music that all the people love, traditional folk songs, Irish ballads, bluegrass and more. You can be sure he will put a smile on your face and get you singing along. He plays guitar, banjo and mandolin, with an occasional squeeze box, harmonica and tin whistle.

Market hours remain 9 a.m.-3 p.m. every Saturday through October. We're on Cedar Street in downtown Sequim, between Sequim and Second avenues.

We are very happy to welcome back Rainshadow Coffee Roasting Co. Be sure to take a journey with Don Merrikin to learn about the magical, greasy little coffee bean that we all love. He is a percolator of information and brings a wide variety of blends and roasts each week for you to taste.

What else is new at the market?

CR Wearables has been doing sea glass jewelry for about five years but there always is something new on the tables. Connie walks the beach for treasures - both sea glass and sea metal - to use in her one-of-a-kind pieces. In her studio, the glass is sorted by size and color for necklaces or earrings and the largest pieces for cabinet knobs. One of the new designs this season is of bone, horn, shell and wood; very earthy! Come treat yourself or pick up a gift for a friend.

As the new market manager, I can tell you that we have had a very successful first month of the 2010 season. The Open Aire Market, as many of you know, is an amazing mix of entrepreneurs and I am honored to be serving such a creative community. It also is an honor to get to know the growing community of market-goers and supporters. A big thanks to all the volunteers who have been helping thus far. The community booths are hosted this week by the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center and Peninsula Friends of Animals. Come learn more about these important service organizations.

See you at the market!
