Pat Gordon won best in show for her watercolor "Canyon Creek No. 11" at the third annual Art in the Park at the Dungeness River Audubon Center.

Gordon was one of 24 local artists with works displayed indoors. Other artists demonstrated outdoors.

More than 300 of the visitors voted for their favorite piece in the show that included paintings, pottery, block prints and driftwood sculptures.

The second-place favorite was "Soaring High," a hanging sculpture by driftwood artist Tuttie Peetz.

Tied for third place were Ruth Helmsley's photo "The Bridge in a Bubble" and "Salmon Run," a rock painted by Kay Kay.

"Winter Wanderings," a black-and-white photo by Pablo McCloud received honorable mention.

Organizers of the Aug. 13-17 event said about 800 people - many of them first-time visitors - attended the celebration of art and nature in Railroad Bridge Park.

Other events included multimedia demonstrations by artists, an array of art activities for all ages and evening programs on bats and moths.

"Thirty-four generous artists helped us make Art in the Park a success and raise over $1,100," said co-chair Julie Jackson.

Artists donated at least 25 percent of their sales to support River Center programs, along with several pieces of art.
