A concert to celebrate the nation?s heritage is planned for Monday, July 4, at the outdoor bandstand located at the James Center for the Performing Arts next to Carrie Blake Park in Sequim.

Beginning at 2 p.m. the Olympic Peninsula Men?s Chorus performs a patriotic concert, followed by the Sequim City Band at 3 p.m. with announcers Bob Spinks and Bob Rhoades of the Sequim KSQM ?Bob and Bob Show.?

The band plays popular pieces such as ?The National Emblem March,? ?Armed Forces Salute? and selections from ?The Music Man.?

?American Flourish? by Robert W. Smith is a name-that-tune test for identifying American songs and the band promises some audience sing-alongs. The concert ends with ?Stars and Stripes Forever? by John Philip Sousa.

Bring blankets, chairs and sunglasses as the band and chorus honor and celebrate America?s independence.

Parking has changed for the summer as work continues for the playfields located directly off Rhodefer Road.

Park at Carrie Blake Park and walk on the path to the bandstand or park on Blake Avenue or the side streets. Handicapped parking is available in the water reuse parking lot.
