The city's oldest continuing event turns 121 this year as the church celebrates with its staple Swiss steak meal on Friday, Oct. 19.
“It's all pretty much the same,” co-coordinator Helen Rice said of the event. “That's not a bad thing.”
Last year, she and a large crew served 225 meals and are planning for 250 this year.
“We don't know how many we'll serve, but we don't want to run out,” she said.
Church members donate many of the items, along with local businesses, and 75 to 100 volunteers work before, during and after the event in various roles from set-up to ticket sales.
Dinner includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, coleslaw, rolls, green beans, cold and hot beverages and dessert.
Tickets, at $12 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under, will be available at the door or may be purchased in advance at the church office or Sound Community Bank, 541 N. Fifth Ave.
Meals also can be delivered to those who cannot attend. Call the church at 683-5367.
Proceeds support Sequim Community Aid, Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic, Scouting programs, “Light Lunch,” hospice programs, aid to fire victims and church missions.
