Course offers new options for farmers

For new farmers or farmers intent on improving their bottom lines, the “Sustainable Small Acreage Farming and Ranching” course offered by WSU Clallam County Extension provides planning and decision-making tools, production skills and support necessary to develop or improve their sustainable small farm or ranch.

 

Presenters include successful local producers and university specialists with expertise in direct marketing, value-added processing and production planning. Field visits offer up-close views of different operations.Participants can qualify for college or continuing education credit.

 

Sustainable Farming and Ranching runs weekly from 6-9 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 11-April 29, at the Landing Mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles. Class size is limited. Cost for the 12-week course is $250 per farm or family.
