Sequim Police detectives were able coordinate with the U.S. Marshals Service to find a Sequim man with a warrant out for his arrest in Southern California late last month.
Donald Chadwick, 44, was charged Sept. 16 with kidnapping in the second degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment, unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree and for violating a court no contact, protection or restraining order.
Police reports indicate Chadwick hid in the back seat of his estranged wife's car while she was in downtown Sequim and allegedly kidnapped her while brandishing a firearm. She later coaxed him into letting her go, at which time she went to the authorities.
Chadwick found out the woman went to authorities and sent several messages to her.
As a result, Chadwick may face additional charges of intimidating a witness, felony stalking and a second charge of a violation of a no contact order, according to the police report.
Sequim Police public information officer Maris Turner said after an investigation into Chadwick's possible familial connections in California, the U.S. Marshals Service was able apprehend him in the Redondo Beach area in Los Angeles County on Sept. 25.
