Members of the Olympic Peninsula Men's Chorus invite the public to their upcoming show "Broadway Goes A Cappela" at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Port Angeles High School auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave.

The show is during the

Sequim Irrigation Festival.

"It's going to be a tough time for all of us competing for the entertainment dollar but great for the local crowd," said Byron Nelson, chorus president.

The show will feature tunes from plays and films including "My Fair Lady," "The Music Man," "Les Miserables," "The Lion King" and others.

"We're throwing in a few things that have nothing to do with barbershop," said Rich Wyatt, chorus chairman.

"We're moving toward modernizing as a barbershop group - get more versatility."

The concert also features Dungeness Transfer; 3 Outa Four, from the Portland, Ore., area; and HVQ - the Happy Valley Quartet.

"It think it's going to be a fun show," Nelson said.

"As the local people pull together because of the Hood Canal bridge closure, we hope people will support their local talent since Seattle is closed off."

The chorus will raffle a quilt donated by the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club. Tickets cost $1; the winner will be announced at the show.

Profits from the concert go for scholarships for local student musicians.

The chorus is holding a guest night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim. The event is free and open to all.

"Come sing a few songs with us and have some snacks," Nelson said.

"It's a great time for camaradarie and having a good time."

The group is open to new members. Interested men can reach Byron Nelson at 683-3918.
