Abstract artist featured at MAC

Terry Grasteit from Sequim will have a one-man show at the Museum and Arts Center in May, titled "Social Commentary in Abstraction."
Grasteit uses his education in art and psychology as framework for introspective exploration and artistic balance, said MAC director Katherine Vollenweider.
Grasteit's objective is to create a visual expression that invites the viewer to participate in the creative process using the elements of the painting.
"My approach to the painting process is generally expressive, related to some feeling or subject that
has cornered my interest and imagination, thus beginning a creative journey,"
Grasteit said.
"Art for me, in this context, emulates life, changeable and always evolving."
A First Friday Artwalk reception for Grasteit will run from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the museum,
175 W. Cedar St., Sequim.
Grasteit will demonstrate from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
May 23 at the museum,
inviting viewers to add paint to one of his works as
he discusses his abstract painting process.
