How do you weave rainbow-colored fish bait, brown shoes and a vegetable peeler into a one-act play and have them all work together?

This is only one of the challenges faced by the writers for the annual Festival of Student_Directed One_Act Plays that will be presented at Peninsula College May 28-29. Come see how the writers and directors met the challenge as they created interesting and provocative plays.

This kicks off the college's second annual Spring Fling, which spotlights students artists and performers from May 28-June 9.

The plays open at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29. A 7 p.m. performance is on Friday. All performances are in the college's Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The plays, playwrights and directors are:

_ "Elevator," written by Joseph Franciso and directed by Zack Moorman.

_ "Lure," written by Sheldon Taproot and directed by Sara White.

_ "Flamingo & Gnome," written by Nikkole Adams and directed by Nikkole Adams.

_ "Play Ball," written by Deborah Wiese and directed by Sara White.

_ "How to Catch a Fish," written and directed by Rebecca Horst.

_ "The Stranger," written by Zack Moorman and directed by Tia Stephens.

_ "The End is Nigh, Here, Gone," written by Ryan Birdsall and directed by Tia Stephens.

Cast members for all of the plays are Stephanie Alberti, Rebecca Barnett, Jonas Brown, Lydia Corey, Magali Gonzalez, Keith Grubb, Melissa Karapostoles, Deanna Kitchen, David McComas, CC Morrow, Zack Moorman, Sean Peck_Collier, Windston Peddy, Forrest Rees, Davy Jones Ridout, Zoe Shields, Andy Stone, Sam Williams and Max Wright. Forrest Rees is the stage manager and Sean Peck_Collier is the assistant stage manager for the festival.

Admission is $5 and free to students.
