Free concert will feature Dixie jazz

The Sequim City Band will present a Concert in the Park at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 21. The 60-piece concert band, directed by Sanford Feibus, is in its 17th season playing free pops concerts for the North Olympic Peninsula. Summer concerts are on the third Sunday of each month through September at the James Center for the Performing Arts, 563 N. Rhodefer Road, in the Water Reuse Demonstration Park just north of Carrie Blake Park.
The band's June 21 concert will be preceded by the Olympic Dixielanders at 2 p.m. The Dixielanders are youths from local junior high and high schools chosen by Jazz in the Olympics Society coordinator Bud Critchfield and director Signe Crawford to learn the complexities of traditional jazz, more commonly known as Dixieland. The Jazz in the Olympics Society is dedicated to the preservation of traditional jazz through the education of young people.
Bring chairs or blankets and a sunshade.
