Peninsula College's Opportunity Grant program has funds to assist with tuition for up to 45 credits and the cost of textbooks. The application deadline is Sept. 1.

You may be eligible if you are 18 or older, a Washington resident, show financial need on the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) and want to pursue one of the following programs: addiction studies, administrative office systems_accounting option, automotive technology, composite structures, criminal justice, early childhood education, information technology, massage therapy, medical assistant, nursing, welding technology or woodworking and home building.

Grants are awarded on a first_come, first_served basis for eligible applicants. More than 80 grants will be awarded for the fall 2009 quarter, which starts Sept. 21. Students will receive one_on_one assistance to help them get started and throughout their time at Peninsula College.

Since 2006, Peninsula College has used Opportunity Grant funding to help 150 men and women earn more than 104 certificates and 13 two-year associate degrees.
