Story People will take stage at Peninsula College

The Story People of Clallam County will weave stirring tales and stories for Peninsula College's Studium Generale program at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.

The free program in the college's Little Theater will provide a quick preview of the upcoming 15th annual Forest Storytelling Festival, which will be held at the college Oct. 16-18.

Storytellers who will participate in the Oct. 15 Studium program include Rebecca Hom, Ingrid Nixon, Ted Ripley, Richard Seaman and Alice Susong.

Hom recently received the 2009 Story World Honors for her DVD recording "Plenty Live," featuring Northwest raven legend "Fog Woman." Hom is the artistic director for this year's Forest Festival.

Nixon is from interior Alaska, where she works as a ranger for the National Park Service heading up the interpretation/education program at Denali National Park and Preserve. She is a graduate of Port Angeles High School.

Ripley has been active with The Story People of Clallam County since 2005 and currently serves as president of the board.

Seaman studied acting in the Boston area during the 1990s and moved to Port Angeles in 2002. He is a member of The Story People and the Port Angeles Community Players.

Susong has told her stories at Sequim and Port Angeles schools, Olympic National Park, Olympic Park Institute, Teton National Park and several clubs and churches.
