People looking for local and natural gifts this winter season might consider going on Nov. 21 to the Dungeness River Audubon Center's third Holiday Nature Mart.

Annually, hundreds of people come to buy artisans' handcrafted work, drink cider and create their own wreaths and table arrangements.

"People have a lot of fun making wreaths," said event co-coordinator Tuttie Peetz.

"Once you show them, then it's easy to do."

Attendees can purchase preassembled big-leaf maple wreaths or assemble fresh evergreen leaves and a variety of trimmings.

"You could make a significantly long-lasting wreath by changing the embellishments for a holiday or season," event co-coordinator Shirley Anderson said.

All items for sale will have a suggested donation.

Some handmade items available are:

_ Ornaments

_ Woodcrafts

_ Woven/knitted clothing

_ Cast iron goods

_ Bird feeders and

houses

Information on cleaning bird feeders and houses will be provided.

Gifts available can be for people, pets and birds.

Free activities for children, such as making their own cards, will be available, too.

"One of the draws is that everyone can make something and take it home with them," Anderson said.

"It's even better because it's from the natural world around them."

From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the Northwest Raptor Center will participate for a second year.

Holiday Nature Mart is from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday,

Nov. 21, at the center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim. Contact the center at 681-4076.
