A giant card with more than 500 signatures and thank you messages for local veterans was presented to Dean Geddes, a World War II veteran.

Cindy Smith, escrow assistant for Clallam Title Company, came up with the idea because she wanted to show her appreciation for veterans' efforts and help others to do so, too.

Smith said people became emotional as they read the card.

The card now is going to any veterans' establishment in Sequim and Port Angeles for a period of time if the organization wants to display it, Geddes said.
