Artists at the Blue Whole Gallery will be completely out of line this month, or at least their art will be.

Once again the artists are devoting January to a variety of artists and media to brighten the darkness that holds Sequim hostage during the winter months. Even the blue hole, caused by the rain shadow, doesn’t keep the sun from setting early. The gallery draws its name from that blue hole but changes “hole” to “whole” to denote its inclusion of many artists and forms.

For this exhibit, a variety of works will be hung on a clothesline in the gallery window. Most pieces will be unmatted and unframed. Some will be small works.

Karin Anderson, who originated the idea last year, says, “The prices also will be out of line. They will be lower than usual.”

The out of line idea was so successful last year that the artists decided to try it again. The show will run through Feb. 2 at the Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St. There will be a reception at the First Friday Art Walk from 5-7 p.m. Jan. 1.
