Library sets meeting on business, tax plan

The North Olympic Library System board of trustees will hold a public meeting at the Sequim Library at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, to introduce NOLS 2012, a business plan for the library system.
Still in draft form, NOLS 2012 outlines service improvements for the four library branches and establishes a plan for fiscal stability. The plan is based on establishment of a library foundation and an increase in the library's property tax levy from 31 cents to 50 cents per $1,000 in assessed valuation, to be put before Clallam County voters in November 2010.
The board, staff and representatives from each of the Friends of the Library groups worked on developing this draft plan for the past 18 months. The board and staff seek additional input from the community on the plan's elements.
The meeting will open with an overview of the plan, followed by questions, comments and suggestions from the audience.
Copies of the NOLS 2012 plan are at each library branch. The plan also can be downloaded at Web site www.nols.org by clicking on "About NOLS" and "NOLS 2012."
