Editor's note: This report - with the end of the 2010 United Way of Clallam County campaign - closes the Sequim Gazette's weekly Spotlight series on United Way agencies.
Mission statement: Snap's mission is to create and facilitate opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as anyone else in their communities, including a safe place to live, meaningful employment, a solid circle of support, as well as fun and worthwhile leisure activities.
Snap (the letters once stood for Special Needs Advocacy Parents) offers participants the opportunity to experience age-appropriate, recreational and educational activities in a small group setting. Snap's services embrace physical growth and development, emotional well-being, social engagement and meaningful participation.
Service Area: Clallam County, with weekly programs in Sequim and Port Angeles and some outreach services to Neah Bay, Clallam Bay, Sekiu, Forks and elsewhere.
In 2010, Snap will offer a four-day residential camp program for adults with developmental disabilities.
People served: In 2009, Snap served 466 people.
Annual budget/United Way funding: The 2009 budget was $77,143, which includes United Way funding of 19 percent.
