Company changes name, ownership
Greg Lange has purchased Miller Manufacturing, which has been renamed Heritage Millworks. The company's location remains at 255568 Highway 101, Port Angeles.
Guy Miller established the firm more than 25 years ago. He will continue as an advisor during the transition.
Heritage Millworks offers builders, contractors and
homeowners custom wood products and machining.
Products available include flooring, paneling, siding, pre-hung doors and lock sets.
Small-scale kiln drying also is available.
Lange intends to offer more locally harvested and processed finishing lumber for the local market.
Learn to create a landscape
Landscapes by Cockburn sponsors a five-week beginners' class in landscaping from 7-9:30 p.m. Thursdays Feb. 11, 18, 25 and March 5-12 at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St., Sequim.
It will cover gardening basics, design, plant placement and hardscapes-greenscapes.
Classes are open to beginners, gardeners new to the area and those planning future landscapes.
Doug Cockburn, a Washington certified professional horticulturalist working more than 35 years in Clallam County, teaches the class.
The $50 per person or couple price includes a personal design consultation and guided field trip to a local nursery.

Peet named Habitat director
Maitland Peet was chosen as the new executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County.
He brings a background in nonprofit administration, education, construction and community service.
Peet served as executive director of the Olympic Park Institute and more recently with the Peninsula College Foundation.
Before joining Habitat, he was a project manager with AspenRidge Homes in Sequim.
He is a former board member of the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts and with Port Angeles Youth Soccer.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Penn State University and a master's degree in secondary education from the University of Pittsburgh.
Store donates to cardiac services department
Necessities & Temptations, 217 N. Laurel St., Port Angeles, donates 20 percent of each purchase made during its third annual Heart Health Open House on Sunday, Feb. 7 to Olympic Medical Center's cardiac services program.
The store also sells red heart health scarves for $5 each, with all proceeds benefiting the program.
The program provides a wide spectrum of cardiac care, from prevention education, health screening and diagnostic tests to cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
Edna Peterson, owner of Necessities & Temptations, hopes to promote awareness about heart health among Olympic Peninsula women.
Judy Tordini, director of cardiac services, Olympic Medical Center, discusses strategies for women to detect their risk of heart disease, wellness and prevention, tools used to diagnose heart disease, treatment and rehabilitation.
She also will provide blood pressure checks.
Store hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Clark attends annual conference
Gordon Clark of Clark Horticultural attended the 2010 annual Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association Conference in Grand Mound.
Clark uses the two days of seminars to maintain his status as a certified professional horticulturist.
