Blood drive scheduled
Knights of Columbus Council 8455 and Puget Sound Blood Center sponsor a blood drive from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 3:15-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim.
Scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 681-2596.

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site meals are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation: $3. Menus are subject to change. Call 683-8491.

Clallam Conservation District is accepting orders for its annual native plant sale through Saturday, Feb. 20. Plant pick-up is Saturday, March 6.
Bare-root tree and shrub seedlings are in bundles of 10. Conifer trees are in bundles of 10 and 25.
Bundles cost $15-$25 each. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Evergreen trees are Douglas-fir, grand fir, Sitka spruce and western hemlock. Deciduous trees are big leaf maple, Pacific crabapple, red alder and Rocky Mountain maple. Deciduous shrubs are Indian plum, ninebark, Nootka rose, oceanspray, red-flowering currant, serviceberry, snowberry, thimbleberry and twinberry. Evergreen shrubs are evergreen huckleberry and short Oregon grape.

Shorebirds talk
Bob Boekelheide, director of the Dungeness River Audubon Center, will present a program on shorebirds at the Olympic Peninsula Paddlers meeting at 7 p.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Fair royalty
Clallam County Fair Royalty has extended its application deadline to Monday, Feb. 22, for 2010. Applications are at high schools and online at www.clallam.net.
Candidates must be in the 10th to 12th grades and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Completed applications should be brought to the fairground kitchen, 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles. Call Christine Paulsen, 452-8262
StreamFest planning
Volunteers interested in helping plan North Olympic Land Trust's 11th annual StreamFest are invited to a planning session Wednesday, Feb. 17.
An indoor potluck picnic begins at 5 p.m. The meeting follows from 6-7 p.m. in the home of Jim and Robbie Mantooth, 2238 E. Lindberg Road. Other projects of the Land Trust's outreach committee also will be discussed briefly.
StreamFest will be noon-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29. Activities include a smorgasbord, educational experiences, informational booths, live music and drama, and a silent auction.
Calling student artists
Public, private or home-schooled students in Clallam County, grades 6-12, may submit art work for the 16th annual Student Art Show sponsored by Sequim Arts. All media, including 3-D, will be accepted. Two entries are permitted per student at $1 per entry.
Bring the artwork along with a completed entry form between 3-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, or 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 27, to the Museum and Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St., Sequim. Forms may be downloaded at sequimarts.org or picked up at the museum. An artists reception is 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 5, with an awards presentation at 6 p.m. The show runs through March 27.
Youth program receives grant
The Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe's Youth Program was awarded a $20,000 grant from the First Nations Development Institute, created by a gift from the Kalliopeia Foundation.
The grant supports the tribe's "Ways of the Canoe" Summer Youth Program for eligible Native American youths in grades 5-8.
Twenty-two scheduled program days throughout the summer, starting in late June, focus on team building, cultural enrichment and knowledge, physical wellness, healthy behaviors and life skills.
Child/teen mental health
Special education teacher Margie Ahlgren outlines the National Alliance on Mental Illness' new basic education class at a NAMI meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, in Linkletter Hall in the basement of Olympic Memorial Hospital, 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.
The free six-week class for parents, guardians or caregivers that begins Feb. 23 focuses on child and teen mental health. Child and adolescent counselor Mac McIntyre adds a clinician's point of view.
