One candidate, incumbent Joe Murray, is on the Clallam Conservation District 2010 board of supervisors ballot for the March 2 election.

The election will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 2. Polling places will be the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave., and the Port of Port Angeles headquarters, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Murray seeks his sixth three-year term.

The district has five supervisors who each serve a three-year unsalaried term. Registered Clallam County voters elect three positions. The Washington State Conservation Commission appoints the other two.

In addition to the elected position, one of the two appointed positions is open this year. The appointed term held by Nash

Huber expires in 2010.

To be considered for appointment, an application must be submitted to the Clallam Conservation District or the Washington State Conservation Commission.

Forms are available from the Clallam Conservation District, 1601 E. Front St., Building A, Suite A, Port Angeles; 452-1912, ext. 5; and at the Washington State Conservation Commission Web site, www.scc.wa.gov, 360-407-6215.

The application must be received by the State Conservation Commission no later than March 31.

The Conservation District board of supervisors identifies local conservation needs, sets goals and oversees the implementation of plans to protect soil, water, wildlife and other renewable natural resources. It employs a staff of five and oversees an annual budget of approximately $2 million.

It meets at 3 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the district office.

Visit the Clallam Conservation District Web site at http://clallam.scc.wa.gov for general district information.
