Breast health screenings offered

Olympic Medical Center offers a free breast health clinic from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19.
The clinic is available for any woman who has not had her annual screening mammogram in the past year and who is uninsured, inadequately insured or otherwise unable to pay for a clinical breast screening or mammogram.
Availability is limited and preregistration is required. To register, call 888-362-6260 and ask about the free breast health clinic.
First Federal made this free breast health clinic possible with a $375,000 donation through its Community Dividend Fund toward digital mammography in 2009.
The funding provided financial support to purchase the equipment and to provide free mammograms for women who qualify.
Olympic Medical Center installed digital mammography in late 2009. In the first four months of 2010, about 3,000 patients were screened and 21 of those received a breast cancer diagnosis. The free breast health clinic is during "Pink Up Port Angeles," a fundraiser by Soroptimist of Port Angeles for Operation Uplift. Operation Uplift is providing a registered nurse practitioner for the clinic as well as additional volunteer staff.
