Free inspections of child car seats are available from 2-5 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at Sequim Walmart, 1110 W. Washington St.
Certified child passenger safety technicians from Sequim Police Department, Port Angeles Fire Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are installing the seats.
Safety experts estimate that about 80 percent of child car seats are not installed correctly.
“It’s not that the parents don’t care, it’s just that there are a lot of ‘tricks’ involved to getting a good fit,” said Linda Pfafman, traffic safety task force coordinator for Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
“It’s not simple to install a child car seat correctly. That’s why it’s a 32-hour course to become a certified child passenger safety technician.”
Pfafman said the service is popular with grandparents and their visiting grandchildren. For more information contact Pfafman at 360-344-9721.
