Clallam County Planning Commission is holding a "listening session" for the public to give feedback on a proposal by the county Department of Community Development to amend the county zoning code provisions governing agriculture, agricultural accessory uses and farm-based businesses.

The session will begin at 6:30 p.m. today, Wednesday,

Sept. 1, in the county commissioners' meeting room at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. The after-hours entrance is located off Fourth Street.

The proposal has three goals:

• to allow for expanded agricultural accessory uses on the county's agricultural zoned land

• to develop more specific measures that will make it easier to interpret the county's zoning code related to agricultural accessory uses and farm-based businesses and

• to provide for a review process to minimize and mitigate any potential impacts of agricultural accessory uses on agricultural land and neighboring residential neighborhoods, to provide neighbors with an opportunity to identify potential impacts and to otherwise be heard, to provide other agencies an opportunity to ensure compliance with regulations under their authority and to provide the applicant with a permanent vested right to proceed before investing significant time, effort and money into the activity.
