Sequim man accused of assaulting deputies

A 21-year-old Sequim man was arrested March 14 after allegedly getting into a scuffle with two Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies.
In a news release, Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron said deputies Michael Dick and Todd Yarnes were responding to a domestic violence report in the 100 block of Johnson Creek Road outside of Sequim when they encountered Ha-Qwenith Grinnell.
Grinnell allegedly had threatened to kill a family member, deputies said.
As the deputies attempted to detain Grinnell for questioning, he resisted and began hitting and kicking the deputies, Cameron said.
The deputies used electrical control devices and pepper spray to gain control of Grinnell, Cameron said.
Dick sustained a head laceration and bruises to his arms and legs. Yarnes suffered a slight concussion, scratches to his face and bruises to his arms and legs. Both were treated and released from Olympic Memorial Hospital.
Grinnell was transported to the Clallam County jail and booked on investigation of felony harassment and two counts of third-degree assault.
