In three truckloads, Sequim Middle School ASB officers unloaded more than a ton of food — 2,438 pounds to be exact  — for the Sequim Food Bank.

Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders competed to bring in the most for a chance to have an ice cream party.

Classes donating the most food were Tracy Williams’ sixth-grade class with 461 pounds, Eloise Ware’s seventh-grade class with 293 pounds, Diana Piersoll’s eighth-grade class with 205 pounds, and the office and library teachers’ assistants with 137 pounds.

Sixth-graders won the competition by donating 1,126 pounds.

Top donors were Daniel Knight with 158 pounds of food, Molly Early Crecelius, 137 pounds; Maddie Matthews, 121 pounds; Meghan Matthews, 114 pounds; Nicholye Nicoson, 99 pounds; Zakery Riedel, 96 pounds; Jake Smith, 75 pounds; Kaylee Gumm, 62 pounds; Becky Schroepfer, 61 pounds; Josh Cibene, 60 pounds; Shyanne Terry, 57 pounds; August O’Shea, 55 pounds; Alexandra Stuwart-Lovell, 50 pounds; Michael Larsen, 46 pounds; and Katie Stevenson, 45 pounds.

Middle schoolers also collected $174.50 from their movie night for the food bank as well.
