Retired Lt. Col. John Bishop, president of the Canadian War Veterans Association (right), visits Gerald Rettela, president of the Korean War Veterans Association, Olympic Peninsula, Chapter 310, to pay homage to Clallam County Korean and Viet Nam war veterans who were killed in those wars. A rose designated for each veteran was placed at the base of the combined memorial, located at Veterans Park in Port Angeles. Bishop presides over all of the Canadian Korean War Veterans units, a group consisting of several thousand veterans, throughout Canada. Rettela has been asked again to carry the United States flag in the Queen Victoria Parade on May 23 in Victoria, British Columbia, along with a motorized and marching United of the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry and veterans of the Olympic Peninsula’s Korean War Veterans Association.
