Pairadee earns degree
Donna M. Pairadee of Sequim recently earned an Associate of Science degree in Nursing from Excelsior College.

First Book supplies books to children in need
First Book-Clallam County has given 2,500 new books to five literacy programs serving Clallam County children in need. Parenting Matters, First Step Family Support Center, Lower Elwha Head Start, Lutheran Community Services and Clallam County Juvenile Services will distribute the books to area children to help start family libraries.

Teachers to be commended
April 1 is the deadline for Clallam County school districts to submit candidates for commendations for promoting environmental studies and sustainability, which will be awarded in May. The League of Women Voters awards the commendations.
Parents and educators can contact the school district office to nominate teachers who demonstrate expertise and creativity in integrating the list of standards — developed by the Office of the Superintendent of Instruction — into the curriculum. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Grange accepts applications for scholarships
Sequim Prairie Grange is accepting scholarship applications through April 30 from graduating seniors and college students continuing their studies. An applicant must be a member or a child, grandchild or great-grandchild of a current member or of a deceased life-member of the
Sequim Prairie Grange.

Parenting class teaches to take care of self
A free, six-week class helping parents set goals, identify and reduce stress, communicate, cope with tough situations, make decisions and more comes to the First Teacher room, Room 4W, Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St., starting in April. The class meets each Thursday from April 7-May 12 and is taught by George and Annette Lindamood.
There will be light refreshments and child care is available. Attendees receive a free book. Enrollment is limited. Call 582-3428 or 681-2250.
Exchange program seeks families
ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is seeking local host families for international high school boys and girls.
Exchange students are 15-18 years of age and are coming to this area for the upcoming high school year or semester. They are conversant in English, fully insured, bring
their own personal spending money and expect to contribute to their share of household responsibilities.
Families can choose their students from a wide variety of backgrounds, nationalities and personal interests.
