A fire consumed a mobile home at 133 Country Acres Lane off Hooker Road Friday morning.

Clallam County Fire District 3 personnel arrived at 8:41 a.m., about eight minutes after occupant Michael Emard smelled smoke and saw fire in the living room area.

Emard called 9-1-1 from a neighbor’s house and was treated on scene for minor smoke inhalation. The fire injured no one.

Peter Loeb, public information officer, said cause of the fire is unknown, as of late Friday afternoon.

Lt. Chad Cate, first on scene with Engine 33 from the Carlsborg station, said flames from the home reached about 15 feet in the air.

Assistant Chief Tony Hudson, who acted as incident commander, said structure fires like these can double in size every 60 seconds.

“With the time between the occupant’s discovering the fire, then going to the neighbors to use their phone, the blaze had ample time to rapidly grow,” Hudson said.

He said residents need to make sure that their smoke detectors are in working order.

The home was fully involved and has an assessed value of $147,000.

A total of 18 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, using three fire engines, two water tenders, a rescue unit, a medic unit and a command unit from four stations.

The fire was extinguished at about 9:30 a.m.
