The last of three defendants in a string of car vandalism cases reached an agreement with prosecutors in Clallam County Superior Court on June 22.

Tyler Townsend, 20, of Sequim, pleaded guilty to the amended charge of malicious mischief in the third degree, a gross misdemeanor. Townsend was arrested in February in connection with a string of car vandalism reports.

Sequim police said they received video from a cell phone obtained from a search warrant in another case that showed Townsend, Jordan Hartman, 19, of Sequim, and a 17-year-old breaking out the windows of three cars. Police previously responded to reports of broken car windows and vehicle damage in the 200 block of East Prairie Street in Sequim on Oct. 27, 2010. The damage cost the car owners more than $1,700 to repair, according to police reports.

Townsend was sentenced to 365 days in jail with 362 days suspended and credit for three days served. The suspended sentence is contingent upon two years without acquiring any more criminal charges and full payment of $165 restitution with $100 going to one victim, $50 to another and $15 to the third, according to sentencing documents.

The juvenile co-defendant's fact-finding trial was continued to May 17, 2012, to give him time to complete a drug court resolution entered into on a different matter.
