After a good first turnout for the Incredible Edible Festival in 2010, organizers with the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce are postponing the event originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24.

Christy Rookard, event chairman, said the festival’s committee decided on Friday, Sept. 2, to delay it because they had less-than-expected vendor participation.

“There’s no new date yet,” Rookard said. “We’ll regroup and see if there are any changes that we need to make.”

The event brings local businesses and restaurants together at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club. Attendees pay to receive tickets to sample a multitude of different local foods.

Rookard said committee members were pleased last year. About 500 people attended and about half of the tickets sold in advance. In total, 34 vendors provided food, drinks and treats.

Rookard said she was surpirsed that the festival has only about one-third of the vendors they had at the same time last year.

Various vendors told the committee they didn’t have the staffing levels to open their store or restaurant and have someone at the festival or they were too busy with other commitments.

Organizers plan to speak with more vendors to generate interest, Rookard said.
