While some will know Rod Fleck from his day job as city attorney/planner for the city of Forks, his hobby for nearly two decades has been family history. Fleck presents “Researching Your Ancestor Vets,” a guide to research from the American Revolution through World War II, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Raymond Carver room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Participants will learn about special websites and techniques for researching the military veterans among their ancestors.

There is no fee for attending the presentation.

Fleck has a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Washington and a law degree from Seattle University. His current focus is researching military ancestors.

Fleck has completed three lineage proofs for the National Society of Children of the American Revolution and is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Pilgrim Hopkins Heritage Society.

He also is the webmaster for the 74th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry — a German regiment that served in the Union Army — and the webmaster for the 12th Massachusetts, a regiment of men from what is now Maine who served in the American Revolution.

For nearly 10 years Fleck chaired the Seattle Genealogical Society’s German Interest Group.
