Pumpkin patch comes to life

Created by Roger Schmidt of Sunny Farms, this year’s corn maze design at the Sequim Pumpkin Patch is, well, a pumpkin.
The 33-acre farm at the corner of U.S. Highway 101 and Kitchen-Dick Road hosts numerous activities each year and 2011 is no different, with hayrides, horseback rides, mazes and more.
The patch is open from 9 a.m. until dark on weekdays, plus there are evening maze adventures on Fridays and Saturdays, through Halloween.
The 6.5-acre cornfield maze has reduced rates for 2011: entry is $5 for youths 12 and younger, $10 for ages 13 and older.
The farm also features horseback rides ($5 each), a pumpkin shoot (launch three pumpkins for $5, for a chance at a $100 prize) and a straw maze ($5 each youth for unlimited entry, adults free) that’s open Fridays and Saturdays.
A haunted house is open from 7 p.m. to closing on Fridays and Saturdays.
The farm features U-pick pumpkins and can accommodate field trips and birthday parties.
