Veteran actor Marianne Trowbridge will perform Sequim playwright Rebecca Redshaw’s “Four Women” at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Edmonds Conference Center, in conjunction with the Seattle citywide festival “Arts Crush.”

The 87 year-old actress perform the one-woman/four-character tour de force playing different roles ranging in age from 55 to 101.

Trowbridge weaves together the lives of the seemingly unrelated circumstances: At 101, Elizabeth, a New Englander, has a matter-of-fact outlook on life. Bootsie, a Southern belle, revels in her memories of the music of WWII and still taps through life. Sheri is a woman flirting with the early stages of Alzheimer’s, grasping for clues that will reveal truth, and Vera, the young widow merely wants to get on with her life.

“Four Women,” notes Redshaw, “is a challenge for any actor and Marianne has the exceptional ability to captivate the audience every step of the way.”

Trowbridge has had a long and distinguished career in community theatre as an actor, director and choreographer. This is her first one-woman play.

Redshaw is an author and playwright. Her novella, “Dear Jennifer,” is published and has been adapted and produced as a play. In addition to “Four Women,” Redshaw has written six plays and recently completed her third novel, “Summer in Ben Avon.”
