Fall fruit show set for Saturday

The Olympic Orchard Society of Clallam County will host the biannual Fall Fruit Show from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave. in Sequim.

The public is invited to view the large variety of fruit grown in Clallam County. There will be over 20 different varieties of apples and pears to taste.

There will be an opportunity to learn how to grow and care for fruit trees and berries.

Attendees are encouraged to bring in their mystery apples for identification.

There will be a limited number of grafted apple and pear trees on sale. Fresh apple crisp will be sold. There will be raffles, door prizes and information tables on mason bees, Master Gardeners and information about growing fruits in our climate.

Society members are asking an entrance fee of $3 for singles and $5 for two people or a family. Members attend for free.

The Olympic Orchard Society, a Western Cascade Fruit Society Chapter, promotes interest in growing fruit- or nut-bearing trees and plants in Clallam County. The organization brings together orchardists and backyard growers who support each other and encourage propagation of desirable fruit and nut varieties suited to the local climate.

Group members do this by sponsoring fruit shows, orchard tours, field trips, meetings, seminars, demonstrations, workshops and publications.
