County Planning Commission to meet
The Clallam County Planning Commission holds its regular meeting today, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

OMC Auxiliary holds jewelry sale
The Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary holds a jewelry sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today, Nov. 16, at the Medical Services building, 840 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. The sale features HZ brand original limited-production designs.
Fun at Lunch set for Thursday
Strait Occupational & Hand Therapy’s monthly brown bag luncheon, “Funch: Fun at Lunch,” is from 12:05-12:55 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.
This month’s craft project is holiday gift tags. All materials and a dessert will be provided.

Talk about Puget Sound contaminants set
The Port Townsend Marine Science Center presents a lecture on “Toxic Contaminants in Puget Sound Food Webs with a Special Look at Jefferson County Waters” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Natural History Exhibit in Fort Worden State Park. Admission is by donation.
Jim West and Jennifer Lanksbury, State Department of Fish and Wildlife, discuss pollutants in the food chain and describe the geographic extent of contamination.

Habitat hosts ‘Soiree’ for homebuilding
Habitat for Humanity hosts its annual Soiree by the Sea from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Port Angeles Yacht Club, 1305 Marine Drive. The event includes hors d’oeuvres, barbecued oysters, wines and beverages, along with an auction.

MoveOn meeting set
State Rep. Bob Hasegawa (D-11th Legislative District) speaks at Clallam County
MoveOn’s meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Olympic Unitarian Universalist meeting hall, 73 Howe Road, Agnew.
There is a potluck at 6:30 p.m. and new members are welcome.

Humane Society begins winter hours
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society, 2105 W. Highway 101, has switched to its winter hours and will be open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday. The public is welcome to visit the shelter during these hours. For more information or to volunteer, call OPHS at 457-8206.
Green Party screens ‘Inside Job’
The Clallam County Green Party will show the Academy Award-winning documentary “Inside Job” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Raymond Carver room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Admission is free.
The film by Charles Ferguson, narrated by Matt Damon, critiques the financial system which led to the 2008 crisis and continuing recession.
Kiwanis Christmas Trees on sale Nov. 25
The Sequim Kiwanis Club holds its traditional Christmas Tree Sale beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25. The lot at Sequim Village Plaza, 609 W. Washington St., will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day until all trees are sold.
There also will be envelopes provided for an after-hours honor system; customers can take a tree, remove the tag and mail the tag with their check to Kiwanis.
Sale proceeds fund Kiwanis projects assisting with youth activities and other charitable organizations.
Community School’s future to be discussed
A community meeting to discuss the future of the Sequim Community School will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the school’s commons, 220 W. Alder St.
Members of the school board will attend. Superintendent Bill Bentley and members of the facilities committee present an update, with time set aside for small-group discussions. Attendees will be asked for input at the end of the meeting.
