It's fall on the peninsula. That means it's time for pumpkins, and pumpkin carving.
This year the Sequim Gazette is sponsoring its first-ever pumpkin carving contest. To enter, just send us a photo of your jack o' lantern or any other artwork you've created with a pumpkin, or two, or three. (Pumpkin arrangements are welcome, too.)
We have two categories of entries, one for children 12-and-under and another for those 13 and up.
Winners in both categories receive four tickets to The Pumpkin Patch (two adult tickets, two children's tickets).
At the Patch, enjoy U-pick pumpkins, a straw maze, corn maze, pumpkin shoot, horse rides and baby pigs!
The winners will be chosen by the pumpkin carving experts in the Sequim Gazette newsroom, and will be judged on creativity and quality of the work.
To enter, email a photo of your work to mcouhig@Sequimgazette.com or drop off a photo at our offices at 147 W. Washington St. All entries must be received by Oct. 21.
Please remember to include with your entry the name of the person or persons who carved the pumpkin and a phone number where the carver can be contacted.
We'll announce the winner in the Oct. 24 edition of the Gazette.
For those competing in the 12-and-under category, we will require the age of the child and the consent of a parent or guardian.
Gazette judges reserve the right to inspect in person any pumpkin entered into the contest.
And hey, be careful with the carving tools!
