The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society recently announced the results of a three-month fundraising feasibility study conducted by Animal Shelter Fundraising.

The nonprofit humane society had the fundraising feasibility study performed to assess its chance of successfully raising enough capital to fund construction of a 10,000-square-foot animal shelter.

The study recommended that it is feasible for the humane society to raise $1.2 million to fund construction of a new animal shelter. The capital campaign would begin sometime in early 2014 following the implementation of these recommendations:

1. The governing board strengthens itself through modifications to the current board composition, to include review and enhancement of current board policies and procedures
2. The organization implements an advisory board
3. The nonprofit introduces new fundraising strategies and tactics.

As part of its commitment to improve the lives of homeless animals in Clallam County, the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society has purchased a 9.5-acre parcel of land at 1743 Old Olympic Highway, between Gunn and Cameron roads. The location is convenient for residents of both Port Angeles and Sequim.

Funds raised during the shelter’s capital campaign will be used to construct a facility designed to meet the needs of residents and animals for many years to come.
