Ian Montes, a 30-year-old Sequim resident, was arrested on March 5 for violation of a domestic violence no contact order, theft of motor vehicle, resisting arrest and two Clallam County Superior Court warrants totaling $150,000, according to a release from Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Ron Cameron.

In the early morning hours of March 5, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Head Gate Road in Sequim for a report of a stolen vehicle. While at the scene, deputies learned the female reporting party had her vehicle stolen by Montes, her ex-boyfriend. According to the release, a domestic violence protection order exists between the two, prohibiting Montes from having contact with the woman.

A short time after the original report, Cameron said, Officer Rick Larsen of the Sequim Police Department located the stolen vehicle at Montes’ residence in the 100 block of Prairie Street. Deputies also learned that Montes had two Clallam County Superior Court warrants for his arrest. Clallam County deputies, assisted by members of the Sequim Police Department, Port Angeles Police Department K-9 officers and Washington State Patrol officers, located Montes hiding in a crawl space under his residence.

Montes was apprehended and arrested.
