With streaks of silver and stainless steel, this image hints at the 1950s theme for the Sequim Irrigation Festival royalty’s 2013 float.
The royalty rolls out in front of 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, March 23, with the festival’s kickoff dinner and auction afterward at 5 p.m.
Designer Guy Horton said they’ve added a lot of lights for the crisp, shiny look for the float that boasts spinning records, video monitors with 1950s dancing and more. He recommends people see the float at a night parade for its full effect.
Dan Rigg led construction for the float with help from Brad Lato, Guy Eldridge, Lynn Horton and Brandt Parks.
Limited tickets ($65) remain available for the kickoff dinner, silent and live auctions by calling Tawana Borden at 683-3408.
The event includes dinner, a special princess party auction item, singing by past queen Jennifer Horton and more with proceeds benefiting the festival.
The Sequim Irrigation Festival runs from May 3-12.
