John E. Groff
A service for Sequim resident John E. Groff will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Dungeness Community Church, 45 Eberle Lane, Sequim.
Mr. Groff died June 6, 2009, at the age of 93.
He was born May 20, 1916, in Brunswick, Minn., to Oscar and Ellen Groff.
He married Lois R. Frank on Aug. 19, 1940. He worked in the dairy processing industry in Minnesota for 45 years, where he retired as the manager of one of Mid America Dairy's major cheese plants.
He also taught Sunday school for 20 years at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, where he was a charter member. Fishing, hunting and lapidary were his favorite hobbies, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. The Groffs moved to Sequim in 1994 to be near family.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; sons and daughters-in-law Bob and Sue Groff of Sequim and Jim and Phyllis Groff of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Jerry Biss and Karen and John Raske, all of Port Angeles; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister Frances and brother Alden.

Esther Bean
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Sequim Valley Chapel, 108 W. Alder St., Sequim, for Sequim resident Esther Bean.
A reception follows at Eastern Hills Community Church, 91 Savannah Lane, Sequim.
She died June 4, 2009, at the age of 92.
She was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Pa'ia, Hawaii, to Frank Herbert and Maybelle Kaddy Partridge.
Sequim Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Douglas Arthur Rogers
A memorial service for former Sequim resident Douglas Arthur Rogers will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Sequim View Cemetery on Sequim-Dungeness Way.
Pastor Frank Deister of Open Bible Church of Port Angeles will preside. Mr. Rogers died April 17, 2009, at the age of 78.
He was born Jan. 6, 1931, in Sequim to Arthur and Neva Smith Rogers. He grew up in the Sequim-Dungeness area, graduating from Sequim High School.
He joined the United States Navy in 1950, retiring in 1973 with the rank of chief sonarman submarine service. He spent his entire career serving on both diesel and nuclear submarines.
He married Bonnie Lamica. They had four children, sons Lane Lamica of California; E. Jay Rogers of Minnesota; and Richard Rogers of Oregon; and daughter Neva Marie of California.
The couple later divorced.
He married Erma Boyce in 1971 in San Diego, Calif. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Rogers is survived by brothers Art Rogers of Sequim; Dave Rogers of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Mike Rogers of Poulsbo; and Gene Rogers of Snohomish; sisters Betty Ryan of Bremerton; Shirley Rogers of Port Orchard; Pat Blanton of Port Angeles; Rachel Maines of Silverdale; Dee Krafsky of Poulsbo; Janice Marx of Edmonds; Norma Crossley of Coldwell, Idaho; and Kathy Greene and Kristy Kimball, both of Montana; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandson.
Warren Konopaski
A Rosary service will be said at 6 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles, for Port Angeles resident Warren H. Konopaski.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the church.
A graveside committal service at Mount Angeles Memorial Park follows the Mass.
Mr. Konopaski died June 7, 2009, at the age of 86.
He was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Beaver to August M. and Cordelia Beadreau Konopaski.
Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ivey Odell
A memorial service for former Sequim resident Ivey Odell will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
Mrs. Odell died May 24, 2009, at the age of 88.
She was born April 4, 1921, in Port Townsend, to Charles and Marie Schuman Meyer.
She married Gail M.E. Odell on Sept. 20, 1937, and was a homemaker in Seattle and Sequim.
Survivors include sons Willis Odell of Seatac, Steven Odell of Port Angeles, and Dennis Odell of Seatac; daughter Beverly Zeitler of Orting; sisters Georgie Knapp and Thelma Jacobs of Oregon; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
