Robert 'Roy' Nagel
A funeral was held for former Sequim resident Robert "Roy" Nagel, who died Dec. 12, 2009, at the age of 91.
He was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Tumwater. He moved to Mount Norway as a young boy and went through eighth grade in a one-room schoolhouse.
He married Marvel Schweitzberger in Vancouver on Aug. 18, 1945, and farmed for several years.
He worked for SPS Railroad, later Burlington Northern, for 30 years.
The couple also owned Totem Pole Laundromat in Hazel Dell from the late 1960s-1981.
They retired to Sequim in 1983 and moved back to Vancouver in October 2009.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marvel; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Terrin Pearson of Vancouver; brother Oscar Nagel of Ione; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Straub's Funeral Home in Camas was in charge of arrangements.
Wanda Elizabeth Terry-Mills
Private family services will be held at a later date for Sequim resident Wanda Elizabeth Terry-Mills, who died Dec. 12, 2009, at the age of 89.
She was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Chaffee, Mo., to William and Katheryn Hooker McGehee.
She married Edgar J. Mills on May 11, 1991.
She is survived by his children, Suzanne and Gregory.
She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Terry in 1990, her son Michael Terry in 2003, and her husband Edgar Mills in 2008.
Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Sarah Silvas
A service was held for
Sequim resident Sarah Silvas, who died Dec. 12, 2009, at the age of 88.
She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Calexico, Calif., to Manuelo and Andrea Magallenes Samayoa.
She married John G. Silvas on Aug. 21, 1948, in Yuma, Ariz.
A homemaker, she lived in San Diego, Calif., Arizona and Sequim.
She is survived by her husband, John Silvas of Sequim; son John Silvas of Montesano; daughters Linda Silvas of Sequim and Caroline Carnathan of Palestine, Texas; brother Armando Samayoa and sisters Connie Cannon, Irene Rhodes and Margie Ebarra, all of California; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph, Oscar, Art and Robert Samayoa and sister Sofie Hernandez.

Diane Doria Eldredge
No service was reported for Sequim resident Diane Doria Eldredge, who died Dec. 9, 2009, at the age of 54 of heart failure.
She was born Feb. 6, 1955, in Chicago, Ill., to Rex Charles and F. Doria Babineau Seslar.
She married Sandee Hills on Sept. 29, 1993, in Mount Vernon.
She worked for John Fluke Manufacturing and Electronics in Everett, was manager of Discovery Bay Retirement Community in Discovery Bay, owned and operated Crafts Unlimited in Sequim and owned Peninsula Poker.
She is survived by Sandee Hills; son and daughter-in-law Guy and Heather Eldredge of Sequim and daughter and son-in-law DeAnna and Thomas Connors of Everett; her mother; brothers and sister-in-law Richard Seslar of Snohomish; Andrew and Cheryl Seslar of Colville; and Charles Seslar of Antwerp, Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law Terri and Jim Edwards of Snohomish; and Patricia and Phil Blake of Des Moines; half-sisters Adrie Madden of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Connie Gordon of Antwerp; and Terrie Hotary of northern Indiana; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Stephen Seslar in 1987 and her father in 1990.

Dedra Marshall Franks
A private family service will be held for Sequim resident Dedra Marshall Franks, who died Dec. 6, 2009, at the age of 87.
She was born April 28, 1922, in East Troy, Wis., to Oren H. and Dora Gruno Marshall.
A graduate of Allegheny College with a master's degree from Columbia University, she married John Michael Franks on Nov. 24, 1951, in Erie, Pa.
Mrs. Franks lived with her husband and family in Cleveland, Ohio, until 1982.
While in Cleveland, she earned a master's degree in education at Case Western Reserve University and taught in both the Cleveland and West Geauga school districts.
The couple moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1982 after their retirement, then to Sequim in 1989. During the 1990s, they were members of the Driftwood Sculpture Club and produced many sculptures.
She was a social worker in New York City, N.Y.; a troop leader and regional director for Girl Scouts of America; and elementary school teacher in Cleveland, Ohio.
She lived in East Troy, Wis.; Whitefish Bay, N.Y.; New York City, N,Y.; Erie, Pa.; and Sequim.
Mrs. Franks was an avid bridge player, volunteer student tutor for the Sequim School District and volunteer sales clerk for the Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild Thrift Shop.
She is survived by her children Christine Dora Vogt of Nutley, N.J.; John Lewis Franks of Lynnwood; David Bruce Franks of New York City; and Cirius Sunriver of Sequim; five grandchildren; and six nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Franks.

Catherine Gloria (Campbell) Sallee
December 24, 1913 - December 14, 2009
Catherine Sallee joyfully left her earthly home in Sequim, Washington and departed to her heavenly home on December 14, 2009. She was born in Eureka Springs, Arkansas to
Jesse Kelley Campbell and Louisa Edna (Utiger) Campbell on December 24, 1913 and was known to her friends as “Katy”.
Katy spoke often of her adventures with her family in various parts of the USA. She was a tomboy as a child and loved to climb trees, swim the Mississippi River and whatever else her brother enjoyed. Her father was a preacher who eventually established a historic Assembly of God Church in Anacortes, WA; Nampa, ID and Riggins, ID. Katy remembered her mother also as a powerful woman who was known to lay hands on the people when they were ill so that they became well. Katy loved them dearly most especially for their comforting presence and affection.
Katy married Floyd Sanford Sallee in 1933. He made his journey to his heavenly home in 1991. They had 5 children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Their sons and daughters-in-law are Sanford and Delora Sallee, Hank and Wanda Sallee, and Tom Sallee. Their daughter and son-in-law are Gloria and Norm Kincannon. Jackie, their daughter, is meeting them in their new home.
Katy was a woman who loved the Lord Jesus Christ and shared His love in an irresistible manner. She was a mother to all and never to be heard speaking harshly unless it was to defend an insulted party. Her grandchildren remember her
as a personification of unconditional love. Her home was a place of comfort and welcoming arms.
She was a wonderful cook who worked at various restaurants and owned her own at one point. Often, when her family met at her house, they were happy to be greeted by the best pizza in the world which she had made and brought home from work. She was never seen to be anything but joyful for the company of those around her. Her example will never be lost.
Katy the Mom and Grandma will be missed always because her life made the world better and warmer indeed.
