John O. Burnham
A memorial service for Sequim resident John O. Burnham will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Sequim Valley Foursquare Church, 9090 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim.
Mr. Burnham died April 5, 2011, at the age of 86.
He was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Yakima, to Frank and Vivian Burnham.
He joined the Navy in 1942 and became a diesel engineer. He also served in the Korean War.
He attended Bible college in Springfield, Miss. After graduation, he moved to Alaska and became the youth Sunday school teacher at the church he attended. He preached and evangelized throughout Alaska, Mexico and the Pacific Northwest.
He owned and managed a marina in Kodiak, Alaska, and piloted a seaplane.
He was married to Margaret Aga until her death. They raised four children.
He married Gisela Kemp in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Gisela; sons Bruce and Gus; daughters Janice and Donna; sisters Rosella and Allene; many grandchildren; nephews and a niece.

 

Eduardo Galvan
A memorial service for Sequim resident Eduardo Galvan will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave.
Mr. Galvan died March 21, 2011, at the age of 84.
He was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Eduardo Galvan Gandarilla and Gertrudis Galvan Mendez.

Memorial donations may be sent to New Faith Foundation, a scholarship fund at Sequim Community Church or a charity of choice.

 

Lee Scott
A celebration of life for Sequim resident Lee Scott will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Parkwood Club House.
She died April 1, 2011, at the age of 75.
She was born July 29, 1935, in White Plains, N.Y., to William and Inez Sherwood Scott.
A Parkwood resident for 17 years, she served in the United States Navy.

She is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law Robert Scott of Green Valley, Ariz., and Ken and Phyllis Scott of Federal Way; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Truman Weekley of Chesapake, Va.; and many nephews and nieces.

 

Eugenio Bultedaob
A memorial service was held for Sequim resident Eugenio Bultedaob, who died April 2, 2011, at the age of 54 of liver
cancer.
He was born July 13, 1956, in Ngiwal, Palau, to Bultedaob Tekoil and Teikosang.
He served in the Army for six years. He was stationed in Ft. Bliss, Texas; South Korea; and Ft. Lewis.
He married Jane Ann Bultedaob on July 7, 1984, in Palau.
He worked as a civilian for the Army Corps of Engineers in the United States, Korea and Afghanistan. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and working with engines.
He is survived by his wife; son Daniel; daughter Christine; two brothers; five sisters; and a large extended family in Palau and around the world.
He lived in Sequim for 14 years and Palau for 19 years.
Sequim Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

 

 

James L. Cherny
No service was reported for Sequim resident James L. Cherny, who died March 17, 2011, at the age of 81.
He was born May 4, 1929, in Chicago, Ill.
He graduated from Lane Tech at the age of 16 and enlisted in the Army in Airborne and later Special Forces.
Upon his return from Japan, he went to California to meet his “pen pal” of more than a year and was soon married.
He attended Northwestern University and graduated magnum cum laude. He was president of the honor society and captain of the gymnastics team.
He was elected to run NIPPS as deputy commander of Defense Printing. He was awarded the Distinguished Senior Executive Award by three different presidents.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters Monica and Teresa; three grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

 

Robert J. Porter Sr.
A graveside service was held for Sequim resident Robert J. Porter Sr., who died April 3, 2011, at the age of 81.
He was born June 21, 1929, in Monroe, Iowa, to Fay J. and Bess Lavina Wolcott Porter.

Dorothy Mary Gohsman
Dorothy Mary Gohsman, 84, of Sequim, Washington died peacefully in hospice care on April 2, 2011, surrounded by her three children and dear family friend, Sabrina Brazier.
Dorothy was born to the late John and Irene Brockschlager, on March 22, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Holy Angels Academy in Milwaukee, WI. During high school she worked at Signal Battery with her twin sister, Betty, making batteries for the
World War II effort.
Dorothy received a Bachelors of Arts in Business from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, WI. During her college years, she worked at Gimbels and Boston Department Stores as a clerk and model. After Graduation, she worked at the Red Star Yeast Company in the office.
On December 30, 1950, Dorothy married her soul-mate, the late Bill Gohsman with whom she shared almost 60 years.  They moved to the Los Angeles, California area in 1951. In 1958 they started their family by adopting twins, Gail & Greg. In 1967 they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Gwen.  In 1971, Dorothy and her family moved to their second home in Ashland, Oregon. In 1981 they relocated to Sequim, Washington with their youngest child.
Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker and loved to entertain family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cheering on the Seattle Mariners, going on long walks, camping, decorating the home
and reading novels.
Dorothy worked as an x-ray technician and hospital secretary in California, an aide at the elementary and high schools in Oregon, and as an Assistant Activity Director in a local nursing home and a peer counselor to the elderly for Clallam County, Washington.
Dorothy was a devoted Catholic throughout her life. She served her Lord Jesus in the Healing Ministry in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, was a C.C.D. teacher and served in the Women of St. Joseph’s. Dorothy was known by her deep faith and trust in Christ as she shared His love, joy and grace with so many. She will be deeply missed by family
and friends and forever loved.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: Greg (Celene), of Cle Elum, WA; Gail of Seattle, WA and Gwen of Issaquah, WA; her three grandsons: Jivan, Joel and Geri; her twin sister Betty Conrardy (Bill) of Sequim, WA and their children; her brother John Brockschlager (Nancy) of Milwaukee, WI and their children; and goddaughter,
Pam Humes, of La Jolla, CA.
On Tuesday, April 19, a Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 121 East Maple Street, Sequim, Washington 98382. Followed by a Christian Burial at Sequim View Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow in the
Parish Hall at St. Joseph’s Church.

Phillip Frank Rogers
1942 ~ 2011
Phillip Frank Rogers began his life in Perryton, Texas, on September 8, 1942, and after a valiant fight against numerous physical problems, succumbed to cancer on Sunday, March 20, in Casa Grande, Arizona .  His loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Lynne, was with him at the time of his death.  Phil is survived by his sister, Linda Rogers Pointer of Perryton, TX; his son Jeffrey Rogers of  Sequim; and son Patrick Rogers, his wife, Stephanie and grandson Sage, all of Battleground, WA.
Born to Oliver Cromwell Rogers and Geneva Juanita Green-Rogers of Perryton, Texas.  Phil remained in Texas, farming through most of his life.  He graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and married Abbie Lynn Rogers-Wood,
mother of his two sons in whom he took great pride.  
Later, Phil married the former Lynne Reed of Dallas who was his inspiration, helpmate, best friend and love.  Through recent years, she was his devoted caregiver and source of his positive attitude.  Phil and Lynne moved to Sequim in 2002, became active in the Newcomers’ Club and other charitable causes including Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army.  During their residence in Sequim, Phil became Treasurer of the Sequim Senior Activity Center where he initiated the Center’s first computerized accounting system.  He greatly enjoyed the friendship of his colleagues at the Senior Center and considered his work there an accomplishment helpful to the community.  Phil and Lynne also became enthusiastic and generous supporters of The Sequim Guild benefiting
Seattle Children’s Hospital.
In November 2009, with his health deteriorating rapidly, Phil and Lynne moved to Casa Grande, AZ, to be in a warmer, drier climate.   There, he received a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia  and was told he might have only a short time to live.  Given excellent treatment from his doctors and devoted care and emotional support from wife, Lynne, Phil’s life was enhanced and stretched for another year and a half. 
A Celebration of Life in memory of Phillip Frank Rogers will be held at Olympic Theatre Arts on Thursday, June 2nd from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.  The family has designated The Sequim Guild of Seattle Children’s Hospital or the Sequim Senior Activity Center for memorials.  (Donations may be addressed to:  The Sequim Guild, P.
