Trojans trip Wolves at home

Finding positives in a 28-point loss? Easier than one might think.
After getting outscored 52-12 through three quarters of play against Olympic on Friday night, Sequim's Wolves outscored the Trojan second-stringers 16-4 in the fourth quarter of a 56-28 loss.
"The last two games, we've been focusing on defense," Sequim coach Stephanie Lewis said. "Tonight's defense definitely improved. They were rotating and frustrating (Olympic's) posts like crazy. Our press was effective for the first time."
Lea Hopson led the Wolves with 10 points.
Lewis said that despite the loss - and a losing streak that dates back two seasons - she still sees plenty of promise, particularly in Sequim's youth.
"We're starting three freshmen," she said. "This is a huge thing. Most other teams are starting seniors."
Jessica Klump led the Trojans with 14 points, followed by Riza Suriben with 12 points and Samantha Thornton with 10.
"We need to shoot better and ... we need a go-to shooter," Lewis said. "We're still looking for that. I'm opening the gym at 7 a.m. each morning. I'm looking for someone to step up for that (role)."
After playing nine of their first 11 games of the season on the road, the Wolves were back in the friendly confines of the Rick Kaps Gymnasium on Friday night.
"The support we had tonight was outstanding," Lewis said.
They were slated to host Klahowya on Jan. 19 - results were unavailable at press time.
Sequim hosts Bremerton on Jan. 22, plays at Port Townsend on Jan. 26 and hosts Kingston on Jan. 29.
Knights conquer Wolves in Bremerton
Host Bremerton jumped out to a big lead and didn't let up much as they toppled Sequim 63-24 on Jan. 12.
Knight Jalen Carpenter finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds while teammate Angelique White added 10 steals and five assists.
The Knights, who led 18-4 after one quarter and 31-7 at halftime, had just nine turnovers and finished with 41 rebounds and 24 steals.
Rylleigh Zbaraschuk led the Wolves with six points while Jessica Lauritzen and Lindsey Soha had five points each.
