Peninsula women's basketball coach Alison Crumb becomes a full-time college employee at the college starting July 1.

Crumb, who took over as head coach for the Pirate women's basketball team in 2009, accepted the position as educational planner and renewed her coaching contract for the 2010-2011 season.

In addition to her part-time coaching duties, she is to work in the college's student services division.

"I am very excited for this opportunity to be on campus at Peninsula College full time," Crumb said. "Not only does this positively affect my career, but it will benefit tremendously the women's basketball program."

Crumb, a Port Angeles High School graduate who was team captain of Peninsula's only division championship women's basketball team, graduated from Western Oregon University with a bachelor's degree in English literature.

She served as assistant coach in the 2008-2009 season and head coach in 2009-2010.

Peninsula College athletic director Rick Ross said he is looking forward to watching coach Crumb build the program.

"This is a prime example of how our administration supports athletics," Ross said.

"Even in a time of state budget cuts, we found a way to match a quality person in a position to fill a great need in academic advising, while also supporting a very promising young basketball coach. I know Ali will do a great job in educational planning for all students and she is very hungry to build a competitive basketball team to represent the college and the community for years to come."
