A dispute in the Cascade Football League led several teams - including the Sequim-based Olympic Peninsula Eagles - to join the Western Washington Football Alliance.
Eagles coach Mike McMahon confirmed the change last week before the Eagles fell to the Kitsap County Bears 39-0 on Saturday afternoon.
McMahon said he and fellow team owners felt the Cascade Football League's commissioner should step down from the position because of a conflict of interest and when he didn't, owners voted to join the WWFA.
"There will be 13 teams in (the Alliance) next year, with teams from Bellingham to Portland," McMahon said, and the Eagles are likely to play a 15- or 16-week season in 2011.
The Eagles are hosting a "Night of Laughs" comedy fundraiser on June 4 - starting at 8 p.m. at the New Peking Restaurant, 2416 Highway 101, Port Angeles - before hosting the Portland Vipers on June 19.
